School Groups
One of the fundamental awareness concepts at Tenikwa is that we need to change accepted practices and traditions. Children are most open to questioning the customs that they grow up with. The children of today will be the leaders of tomorrow. It is crucial that we instill a sense of empathy for the environment and create an sense of connectivity between humans and the earth they share with the creatures of the world.
The Tenikwa School Visit is a learning experience for the student. The students are given a brief talk on the topic of the day and then shown a short video. Thereafter, they are split into small groups and go out, accompanied by their educators, to see the animals. The tour involves some fact giving, but also the guide will ask a lot of questions to engage the children and to increase the awareness of consequence and human impact on the environment. The overall purpose is to show the animal in its natural habitat and to make the child aware that without protecting the environment, the whole process starts to unravel and animals are unable to sustain themselves.
