String of successes in Tenikwa’s first year
Plett Wildlife Awareness Centre also rehabilitates all manner of small animals.
Kurland Village Animal Care Clinic 6 April 2010
On the 6th of April 2010, Tenikwa staff and volunteers met at the Kurland community hall for their monthly Animal care clinic for the residents of Kurland. A big thank you to Dr Mark Shortreed from Knysna Vet Clinic, volunteers and staff of Tenikwa.
Each animal was checked over, dewormed, inoculated and treated for any injuries. The animal care clinic costs are sponsored by Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre who believes that empathy for wild animals starts by encouraging the community to look after their pets.

Caring members of The Crags community also attend the village to assist and hand out small packets of dog biscuits to reward attendance at the clinic. As the clinic gains support, we want to extend it to run a little competition for the best-cared-for pet as an incentive for pet owners to take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. The children treasure the leads and collars that we use at the clinic, and so we want the best-cared-for pet each month to receive a collar and lead.
